I’m seriously considering using Crowdfunder (www.crowdfunder.co.uk) to fund making The Pride. Not the printing, I luckily have a publisher who’ll cover that, more the paying of artists.

I work a full time job, and have no savings. I am trying to save money from each months pay slips to not only pay the artist and colourist, but also to pay them on another comic project with my colleagues, save for a new computer and generally trying to have some money left behind. As you can imagine, it’s hard. Especially on a minimum wage.

Crowdfunder, which is essentially like Kickstarter but accessibly to UK users (KS canot be used by anyone without an American bank account involved, which really sucks), would allow me to not just raise the money needed to pay Gav & Kris, but also to pay the more known artists I’m trying to hire for the one-page origins (many of whom have much higher page rates), cover getting a bunch of copies for me to sell personally, and also give me a good idea of the level of interest in the project.

If I do do it, then it will very much rely on word of mouth to spread the news of the comic, and hopefully attract funders.

I just wondered if anyone else here has used it?
