One of the major successes of CICE 2012 (Cardiff International Comic Expo) has got to be for the Lou Scannon team.

A bunch of great fellas, friends of The Pride and Stiffs, and hell, Kris is our colourist too.

They make Lou Scannon, a sci-fi comedy that brings to mind Red Dwarf with an even more anarchic feel, and it also reminds me of Spaced a lot too. It’s really great, and I make sure I get the latest edition at each con (as I did at this one).

Gavin Mitchell, the artist on The Pride and Stiffs, has something of a budding bromance going on with Dan Harris, so he’s also done a variant cover to the second issue and the main cover to the just released third issue.

They did FANTASTICALLY at the show, getting the best sales of any show they’ve appeared at before. It was amazing to hear how successful a day, let alone weekend, they had: and well deserved it was too.

I heartily recommend going to their website and buying a copy for yourself, or becoming a member of the Facebook group!

So, guess what? I am writing on another comic. Maybe I mentioned it. It’s called Stiffs, and it’s one of the most awesome things I’ve ever had the chance to be a part of.

It’s funny, I mean, seriously funny. It’s got some fantastic horror, brilliant action sequences, and great twists.

It’s written by some of the best writers I know, Drew Davies and PJ Montgomery, and features some of the best work by superstar artist in the making Gavin Mitchell I have ever seen. And some stunning colours Adam Cadwell and Kris Carter.

The series has been seen by some early readers when we released a special early edition at Thoughtbubble last year, and it went down real well.

And on Indiegogo for the next few hours, there are great savings and perks for preordering.

So if you like The Walking Dead, Spaced, Buffy/Angel, zombie horror films, hell, all horror films, The Fades, Being Human, then you will absolutely frickin’ love this!

Stiffs is a horror-comedy set in the heart of South Wales (setting for such popular shows as Torchwood and Doctor Who), about a dead-end job call-monkey called Don Daniels and his actual monkey life companion (seriously, just friends really) Kenny McMonkey, who discover that zombies exist and now have a new purpose in life: exterminating the undead with extreme prejudice!

It’s at times hilarious, at times gruesome, and always absolutely awesome.

I am by no means bigging myself up here. I’m just a co-writer on this project, and the original idea is not mine, I’m just helping get it together. But it is easily one of the funniest, most action-packed and most fun projects I have had to work on.

If you like comics of any kind, you’ll love this. If you like zombie films, or horror in general, you’ll love this. Hell, if you have a pulse, you WILL love this!

This is another comic I’m working on, this time as co-writer along with Drew Davies and PJ Montgomery, and again featuring the amazing artistic skills of one Gavin Mitchell, Kris Carter and Adam Cadwell.

We want everyone in the whole damn world to read this book, laugh at our jokes, and go ‘aaawwwww, I see what ya did there!’.

It’s seriously at times the funniest, sweetest, scariest and most action packed book I’ve erver read or been a part of. A pleasure to be on this one, to be sure.
