Well, Matthew Mitcham didn’t make the finals, but that didn’t dampen his spirit to support Ivan Garcia
Haha! Is this real? Hilarious!
Btw, Ivan Ukhov better watch out, ‘cause I’m kinda falling for Matthew Mitcham now :P
“I believe that reaching out for help is the bravest thing a person can do.”
Issue one of The Pride is still available.
Please can you help me with it though? Can you ask your local comic shop to email me (mojojoseph at hotmail.co.uk) or Deadstar Publishing (the-team@email@example.com) and order copies to stock for your nearest store?
The more stores stocking us, the better!
Wow. What an inspiring young man.
This man. This is why I get up in the mornings. That there are good, smart people out there fighting against small minded bigotry and hate in all its forms, even those that threaten to become laws.
This man was raised by two lesbian women, and he has delivered a speech of outstanding testament of his character as a person in this world. How many of those who oppose gay marriage and adoption rights can say the same?
This makes me smile, and gives me hope. This is how we all should be. No one should tell you who you have the right to marry or make a family with.
I am genuinely sat here in floods of tears. Good tears.
His dad looks SO proud of him. And so he should be. This kid shows more presence of mind and strength of character than is demonstrated by most adults.
That there are people like this in the world makes me eternally happy. And gods bless him!
And to that education board that STILL haven’t overturned that ruling: SHAME ON YOU!
So, my signing of The Pride #1 Early Edition is today at The Comic Guru in Cardiff from 12pm-5pm! Please stop by if you can!

THE PRIDE (Created by Joe Glass, Gavin Mitchell and Kris Carter)
Have you ever been sick of being misrepresented? Of having no one like you to look up to? Have you ever wanted to change everything?
Well, FabMan has. In a world populated by superpowers, the superhero is common. Sadly for FabMan (Tomorrow’s Fabulous Man, Today), he feels a deep schism in the representation of his community, his own heroic exploits being presented as just big jokes in the news. Wan…ting to fight for change, he forms PRIDE, the world’s premier LGBT supergroup. Not a gay superteam, just a team where most members are LGBT. Not exactly receiving the desired response, the group faces opposition from the confrontational Justice Division, more aggressive misrepresentation by the media and are then taken advantage of in the plans of the nefarious Reverend. After a serious trial by fire, the team find themselves the only super team in the world capable of stopping The Reverend’s diabolical plot for world domination.
Join FabMan, Wolf, Sapphire, Frost, Twink, Bear, Angel and White Trash on their mission to help people and improve LGBT representation in the process.
The Pride is a six-issue mini-series written by Joe Glass, and with art by rising star Gavin MItchell, and Kris Carter. The series will be published by Deadstar Publishing, and is seeking further distribution.
The whole point of doing this project is to provide young LGBT comics readers with heroes they can look up to, and older ones with heroes they can relate to; it’s to cover issues that straight readers may not be aware of, or may have disregarded as something which ‘doesn’t affect them’ when they affect all of us; it can hopefully change some opinions and help push for an improvement in representation; and most of all, it will be fun!
If we are unsuccessful here, the comic will still come out. But we won’t be able to spread it as far as we would like, and there is little point to a message if no one can actually hear it.
